Enthusiastic about cinema and eager to fulfill their dreams, young participants are taking part in the “Tetouan Workshops” as part of the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival.
The 29th edition of the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival, taking place from May 4th to 27th, 2024, is hosting the “Tetouan Workshops” for the second time to support ongoing feature films and documentaries presented by youth from Mediterranean countries.
Out of 150 projects submitted, 12 have been selected by cinema experts and professionals. These 12 candidates will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to a jury consisting of Moroccan journalist and screenwriter Bahaa Trabelsi, German producer Christoph Thoke, Egyptian television director Kamla Abou Zekry, and Italian cinema expert Antonio Pezzuto. This edition will see a substantial presence of producers and distributors who will provide guidance and recommendations to these young candidates.
In this edition, five documentary film projects will be presented by Moroccans Jaouad Babili, Mohamed Ali Essaghraoui, and Hassan Maanany, Lebanese filmmaker Dima Al-Joundi, and Maltese co-directors Anthony Mizzi and Angelique Muller. As for the selected feature film projects, participants include Palestinian filmmaker Dima Hamdan, Italians Andrea Magnani and Irene Dionisio, Moroccan Tawfiq Baba, Tunisians Moufida Fedhila and Anis Lassoued, and Egyptian Ahmed El-Hawarey.
The Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival, committed to championing Mediterranean cinema, aims to showcase and promote the diverse schools of the seventh art in the Mediterranean Basin that engage with the present while looking towards the future.
