Screenplay Competition within the Framework of the Tetouan Workshops
Article 1: ORGANIZER
The Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival Foundation organizes the competition as part of the 30th Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival, which will take place from April 26 to May 3, 2025.
Article 2: PURPOSE OF THE COMPETITION
The competition is dedicated to feature-length fiction and documentary screenplays in development.
Article 3: ELIGIBILITY
The rules and registration form are available on the website www.festivaltetouan.org.Participation is free.
The competition is open to any individual over 18 years old and national of Mediterranean countries .
Participants must declare that they are the sole authors of the unpublished work submitted to the Tetouan Workshops’ screenplay competition .
- Participants agree not to submit the screenplay to other competitions during the Tetouan Workshops’ competition period and not to withdraw their screenplay before the competition ends
Submitted screenplays must be intended for theatrical release
Screenplays must not have been submitted to previous editions of the competition.
Selected authors must be physically present to present their screenplays before a professional jury during the festival, from April 30 to May 3, 2025.
Article 4: PARTICIPATION AND DOCUMENT SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Participants must provide the following non-handwritten document
Registration form
Author(s)’ CV
CV of the production company (if applicable)
Synopsis (maximum 2 pages)
Author(s)’ statement of intent
Script excerpt (maximum 15 pages, A4 format, 12-point font in Typewriter, Calibri, or Arial, with standard spacing and margins)
Title page with project title, author’s and director’s names, email, phone number, and, if applicable, the production company’s details
Project progress report (e.g., secured funding, signed production agreements, cast, pre-sales). Significant updates should be communicated to the festival via email at cinemetet@gmail.com
All documents must be compiled in the specified order into a single PDF file and emailed to cinemetet@gmail.com.
Incomplete or non-compliant submissions will not be considered.
Article 5: CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SUBMITTED WORK
The text must be written in Arabic, French, or English
The screenplay can have multiple authors
Each author may submit only one screenplay
The project must be supported by a production company
Both original works and adaptations of literary works are eligible. Filming must not commence before the awards ceremony
Article 6: SELECTION
All submitted screenplays will be evaluated by a pre-selection committee composed of members of the Festival Foundation, which will shortlist 12 projects
Article 7: JURY
The festival foundation will assemble a jury of 3–4 recognized cinema professionals with extensive experience and knowledge of the industry :.
Evaluation Process
1- Each project presenter will explain their vision, artistic intent, and the specifics of their project to the jury
2- Following the presentations, the jury will deliberate and select the winners based on criteria such as innovation, writing quality, narrative coherence, and production potential
Awards :
Three prizes will be awarded, each recognizing specific qualities of the projects. These prizes aim to provide concrete support for the development of the projects, encouraging emerging talent and promoting creative diversity in cinema.
Article 8: PRIZES
The three winners will receive the following prizes
1st Prize: 50,000 MAD
2nd Prize: 40,000 MAD
3rd Prize: 30,000 MAD (offered by the Institut Français du Maroc)
Article 9: MODIFICATION OR CANCELLATION OF THE COMPETITION
The organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time. No liability shall be incurred in this respect.
Article 10: DISPUTES
Participation in the competition implies full adherence to these rules. The President of the Foundation is the sole authority to decide on matters not covered by the rules
Article 11: WINNER COMMITMENT
Winners must include the Festival’s logo in the film credits, along with the mention: “Winner of the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival Screenplay Competition 2025.”
