Director’s bio
Anis Lassoued, graduated from the IMC – Maghreb Institute of Cinema – Tunis and the University of Tor Vergata – Rome. He trained at Femis-Paris, GSARA Lièges, and INSAV – Brussels. His documentaries aired on NHK, TV5, Al Jazeera Children, while his short fiction Saba Flouss won awards at Oberhausen and Cannes. His film Sabbat El Aïd received accolades at FESPACO and TIFF Kids. His debut feature, A Second Life (2022), garnered awards at Cairo, Zlin, and Olympia film festivals. He completed Loading, a short fiction, and Looking for my mother, a documentary, with a new animated puppet short, Mother, and a feature project Le Chemin de Jamila (Lumières Films-2024) underway.

Synopsis
Jamila, 21, a teacher of Arabic language, living peacefully in Tozeur with her parents, Abdelhamid and Emna, an elderly couple from a traditional background, and her fiancé, Khelil, 24, her colleague at school, a passionate lover, mathematician and artist, suddenly discovers that she is pregnant. Her life is thrown into turmoil. Convinced that no one had touched her, Jamila decided to keep the baby «fatherless». Many will reject her at first, but some will follow her. Her path is made all the more difficult when her father passes away and she discovers that she is an adopted daughter. Her misunderstanding of the «miracle» of the child she is carrying and her search for her biological mother will take her all the way to the Holy Land.
